Key Terms
A lung nodule is a small, rounded growth or spot in the lung that can be seen on a chest X-ray or CT scan. These nodules are typically smaller than 30 mm (about 1½ inches). Most lung nodules are benign (non-cancerous). In some cases, lung nodules can be an early sign of lung cancer, especially in individuals with a history of smoking or other risk factors.
