My name is Stewart. I’m a project coordinator from Ireland, and I’m married with one child. In August 2024, I was diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer. I’ve yet to receive treatment, but I will be getting a radical prostatectomy.
I didn’t have any symptoms. I went for a medical check and it was found that my PSA count was high.
I was just surprised. As I had no symptoms, I thought it was something else.
I’ve just been diagnosed, and have yet to receive treatment. My doctor has recommended a radical prostatectomy and I’ve agreed to it. Currently, I am still ill, awaiting surgery.
I wasn’t working all this while. Thankfully, I’m covered financially by insurance and receiving support from family and friends.
My doctor recommended changes to my diet and I followed them. I’ve noticed people have become more open regarding their experiences of having similar illnesses. But I’m still on this journey myself at present.
I plan to get back to normal and finish the previous plans we have.
I’m worried about not surviving the operation. I keep reflecting on future plans to try to overcome this fear.
I fear that the cancer will spread and am scared about the impact of cancer on life.
