ROS1

Roles in cell function
- Spans the width of the cell membrane to receive external stimuli and transmit the signal into the cells
 - Signal internalized by ROS1 is further passed on through signalling pathways to trigger cell growth and maturation (differentiation into cells with specific functions)
 - Cells with mutated ROS1 are constantly being activated and grow without control to form cancerous tumors.

Types of cancer linked to mutation
- Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC)
 - Gastric cancer
 - Colorectal cancer
 - Ovarian cancer
 - Bile duct cancer (cholangiocarcinoma)
 - Glioblastoma
 - Angiosarcoma
