Victor P Profile

Hi, I’m Victor, from the USA. I was diagnosed with stage 2 stomach cancer, and I’ve gone through a gastrectomy, chemotherapy and radiotherapy so far.

Side Effects Indigestion 1

At the start, after experiencing abdominal pain, sudden weight loss, and heartburn, I decided to consult a doctor. After some tests, the doctor informed me that I had stage 2 stomach (gastric) cancer.

Emotions Confused Shock

I was angry, numb and resentful. I felt that it was unfair. Of course, I was also frightened and worried. I felt helpless.

Lifestyle Cut Down Smoking Drinking 3

After learning that I have cancer, I dropped my alcohol intake from 4 drinks to just 1 drink per week. I decreased my smoking frequency and started eating healthier 3 to 5 days a week.

Medical Care Radiotherapy 2

At the start, my doctor recommended a total gastrectomy and chemotherapy, which I followed. I still felt quite anxious, discouraged and scared at that point. I was just a little angry at everything.

However, we realized eventually that the treatment plan wasn’t working effectively.

After some changes, I felt a little less negative. Now, I’m only on radiotherapy. Beyond this, I’ve also tried traditional Chinese medication as an alternative treatment.

Sagan Symptoms

I had hair loss, nausea, vomiting, and peripheral neuropathy. Still, I tried to manage them by eating better and medication from my doctor.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t fully covered by insurance, and faced some difficulties funding the treatment.

Lifestyle Healthy Diet 8

Now, I try to eat healthier every single day. I’ve tried to make this a permanent change in my life. Unfortunately, intimacy with my partner has fallen by a bit.

Aspirations Back To Work

My biggest aspiration is career progression. I told myself that if I recover well I can go back to work sooner. And I want to travel with my wife back home to South Korea. I just want to see my loved ones healthy.

Biggest Fear Friends Support Group 2

Cancer spread even after removing the stomach. To deal with it, I talk to my doctors, pray to God, and seek advice from other cancer patients.

Emotions Neutral 3

Some time has passed now, and I can finally say that I feel neutral.

Lifestyle Protein and Veg 1

Make sure to improve your nutrition after gastrectomy.
