Hi, I'm Jane. I'm a breast cancer survivor from the UK.

When I first received the diagnosis,I felt
- Frightened, powerless, vulnerable and worthless
- Nervous and worried
But at the same time, I tried to remain optimistic, confident, thankful and hopeful.

After my diagnosis, I made some changes in my lifestyle. I started exercising more and tried to eat a healthier diet most days.

Currently, I'm still receiving treatment. The doctors recommended a mastectomy and radiation therapy but I opted for lymphadenectomy for my surgery. I felt a mix of emotions—anxious, motivated, and scared—, but I was also happy to have decided on my treatment plan.

Thankfully, I didn't experience major side effects.

Since starting treatment, my lifestyle has changed. I exercise more often now but unfortunately, my diet has become unhealthier. I find myself spending more time with my kids.

Looking ahead, I plan to enjoy lots of holidays with my family. I also dream of having a nice rest of my life with my loved ones, moving and living a good life.

My biggest fear throughout this journey has been the possibility of the cancer spreading. I have nowhere yet overcome this fear.

Right now, I feel a mix of emotions—
- Frightened, nervous and worried
- Grievened, powerless and vulnerable
- Confident, courageous, hopeful and thankful.

To those on their own cancer journey, I'd say: “It’s hard when people say be positive but it’s all you can do. Stay healthy, surround yourself with good family and friends, and do what you want to do. Listen to the doctors and take their advice.”
